Newest edition - Lightweight concrete planters!

Here in the little studio in Zebulon, NC, we are always looking for a way to grow and express ourselves in new and innovative ways, while staying true to our artistic values.  When we discovered this new product, we couldn't get enough of exploring all the possibilities -- and who doesn't love lightweight concrete? We will be expanding our gardening line, but for now, here is the initial product - concrete planters!

Among the Cornfields

Artists are funny about where they draw inspiration, aren't they.  For some it's in surroundings, humans, animals -- pretty much anything.  Each artist then seems to be able to take that inspiration and wrap it into their habitat, nurturing their creative 'side' so it can bloom.

For NGT, out here in an old tobacco barn, amongst the cornfields and pastures, there is peace and quiet and simplicity which fuels the fire of Nicola Godrey and her tile.

Here is a brief snapshot into the inner workings of the tobacco barn - studio....

Welcome to Nicola Godfrey Tile!!!!

Raleigh, North Carolina - such a busy city.  Everyone is moving, bustling about, making it hard for one to think properly. But if you catch 264 and head east, things immediately start to slow down a bit. There's room to breath and to think... people still drive tractors down the road, and horses and cows and all sorts of fun four-legged creatures.

Out here, among the wheatfields and wildflowers, sits the old tobacco barn that Nicola Godfrey Tile calls home.  Cracked and broken pieces of old pottery and tile line the walk, with hints of art pushing thru the ground. Kilns dry the day's work, and finished pieces glisten in the sun.

The process itself is a work of art.

And through this blog, the process will be revealed, with day-to-day updates, how-to articles and just plain interesting/fun stuff from Nicola.

Feel free to follow along and enjoy the journey!
